hello everyone!

Students, guests , teachers and Honorable Judges

Good morning !

my great pleasure to share my dream with you today。 my dream is to bee a teacher......

As the whole world has its boundaries, limits and freedom coexist in our life。 I don’t expect plete freedom, which is impossible。 I simply have a dream that supports my life。

I dream that one day, I could escape from the deep sea of thick schoolbooks and lead my own life。 With my favorite fictions, I lie freely on the green grass, smelling the spring, listening to the wind singing, breathing the fresh and cool air and dissolve my soul in nature at last。 Simple and short enjoyment can bring me great satisfaction。

I dream that one day the adults could throw their prejudice of ic and cartoon away。 They could keep a lovely heart that can share sorrow and happiness with us while watching cartoon or doing personal things。 That’s the real munication of heart to heart。

I have the belief that my dreams should e true。 I am looking forward to some day ing when I am like a proud eagle, which flies to the blue and vast sky。

Thank you!

Learning english can be a very difficult task for most people, this is because we dont live in a environment where we are forced to speak or write english. so i think the best way to learn english is by communicating with others using the lagnguage itself and not just learn from the book. Im sure if you live in an environment such as a foreign country and were forced to speak and write english everyday then your english will imprve dramatically.

Although we must agree that we need to read and write english from the book in order to get the foundations that we need for basic communication, this is essential but as i said, this is only a foundation, what you develop afterwards all depends on your ability to adapt to an environment and your courage.

secretary kerry: well, nisha, thank you very, very much. welcome, everybody, to acelebration, and happy diwali to all of you. it’s nice to be here.

audience: happy diwali. (applause.)

secretary kerry: thank you very much. we are really pleased to be celebrating this tonight, and i’m particularly grateful for nisha, both for her generous welcome to all of you and to me,but more especially because she’s making really critical efforts in a key part of the world, obviously, as assistant secretary of state for south and central asia. and i was delighted toselect her for that job, and she has not let me down. she is persistent, tenacious – where areher parents? where are the parents? (laughter.) raise your hands. where are the – where areyour parents?

assistant secretary biswal: right here. right over here.

secretary kerry: hooray for you. well done. (applause.) thank you. well, i want you to knowshe’s doing a terrific job. (laughter.) i didn’t just single you out to tell her how bad she is. imean – (laughter) – but she’s doing fabulous. and she left india when she was only six yearsold, and today, literally in just a few decades, she’s become one of the important leaders inamerican foreign policy. and her odyssey, if we call it that, really speaks to the power of theamerican dream. it shows how aspirations and traditions and histories from all over the worldcome together still in this melting pot, and they revitalize and they renew our nation.

and that’s really what makes america different from every other place. we are not defined byone race or one ideology or one history. we are defined by the idea of all people being createdequal and being able to come and exercise their right to pursue a dream here in the unitedstates, but to become very american in doing so. and nisha has obviously described the wayshe does that.

i also want to thank priest narayanachar, who in a few moments is going to lead an invocationand light the diya, the traditional diwali lamp. and priest narayanachar helps to lead one ofthe largest hindu temples in the united states at sri siva vishnu, and it’s difficult to believethat this is a community that began with only a few recent indian immigrants who celebratedoccasions like this one in their own homes. and less than four decades later, the temple not onlyserves as a spiritual home for thousands of hindu americans, but it provides support andoutreach for people of all backgrounds and beliefs.

so as we celebrate diwali this evening, we also hail the accomplishments of the manyhundreds of thousands of hindu, sikh, buddhist, and jain americans who live now all across ourcountry in every community. and we honor their faith and their traditions, and theindispensable contributions that they make every single day to our prosperity, to ourfreedom, and to our culture – to this new chapter of american history that they are helping towrite. and today, the south asian diaspora is a pillar of every aspect of american society.south asians sit in the executive suites of some of our country’s most successful companies, orat the very helm of all of them. they launch startups and earn graduate degrees at severaltimes the national average. they are a driving force behind american leadership and scienceand innovation, and in the history of our nation – and we are a nation of immigrants – it ishard to find any group of americans who have achieved more in such a relatively short period oftime. (applause.)

now, as everybody here knows better than anybody in the world, india is, of course, a countryof enormous energy and power. it is by far the largest nation in south asia, and last monthduring prime minister modi’s visit to the united states, we had an unforgettable chance both tobuild on the already deep ties between america and india, and many of you were here whenvice president biden and i welcomed the prime minister right here to this very stage. theprime minister’s visit was a moment when indians and americans could get a real sense ofwhat our two nations are able to accomplish together by working together, by fighting againstterrorism, by creating opportunity for our young people, by combating climate change, toachieving greater progress by pushing back the boundaries of science and technology. and weare determined to build on that moment that was so well defined here in the primeminister’s words and in the vice president’s words, so that the world’s oldest and largestdemocracies can realize the truly extraordinary, boundless potential of our relationship.

india and the united states – and i discovered this really back when i was in the senate. ithink as a senator i took the first senate business mission, if you will, with a whole bunch ofbusinesses to india very shortly after then finance minister singh had announced theeconomic reforms. and that was a time when it was still breaking through the prior years ofsome suspicion and a certain hangover from the cold war.

and we worked hard to prove that we were, in fact, natural partners, which i believe we are. weare two optimistic nations who believe that history doesn’t shape us, but that we have thepower to shape history. and that spirit of hope and optimism is really at the center of thediwali celebration. as the days grow shorter, the diwali reminds us that spring always returns –that knowledge triumphs over ignorance, hope outlasts despair, and light replaces darkness.diwali is a time for the revitalization of mind and spirit. and just as critically, it affords a chanceto reflect on how we can bring light to others. it is an opportunity for us all, regardless of ourown traditions, to renew a shared commitment to human dignity, compassion, and service– and it is a commitment, i think, at the heart of all great faiths.

so just last week, i hosted a celebration for the diplomatic community commemorating eidal-adha. earlier in the year we marked the nowruz celebration. and tonight, thanks to the goodefforts of shaun casey, who i did bring in here to create the first ever interfaith office withinthe state department, we are now appropriately celebrating diwali too. (applause.) it’simportant to note that these special celebrations are celebrated in communities all acrossamerica and in india and in other countries. and it’s an indication of how our mutualcommitment to religious tolerance and pluralism helps to define and to strengthen our twodemocracies.

president obama and prime minister modi had a chance to celebrate these shared values lastmonth when they crossed the avenue from the white house and together went to visit themartin luther king memorial. and everybody near knows how influenced dr. king was bymahatma gandhi. the two leaders stopped to read a few words from dr. king, words thatcautioned all of us, and still do, against the tendency for violence to fuel future violence. andhe warned us all: “darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. hate cannot driveout hate; only love can do that.” and as dr. king testified so often, life is a constant strugglebetween the better and lesser angels of our nature. tonight, as we come together in the spiritof the diwali festival, we need to, all of us, think about how to reaffirm our sharedcommitment to the light. and this is particularly a moment as we look at the events aroundthe world where that commitment could serve all humankind.

so in closing, i want to thank all of you for joining us at the state department’s first ever diwalicelebration. i guarantee you it will not be our last. (laughter and applause.) and it isimportant in many ways for all of us on occasions like this to be able to come together andcelebrate the diversity of our backgrounds, the diversity of our beliefs, to count our sharedblessings and our responsibilities, and to do so as sisters and brothers, as mothers and fathers,as members of a community, as citizens of a nation, and as stewards of our planet.

so i am pleased now to introduce one of the leading members of the diplomatic corps here inwashington, a distinguished public servant, and he’s a terrific representative of his country.he’s also a passionate advocate for the stronger ties between the united states and india.and i am talking, of course, about ambassador subrahmanyam jaishankar. thank you. (applause.)

Duke accepted me as an ‘early decision’ candidate and, for the first time, I felt seen, and heard and valued. One of the finest universities in the nation was willing to bet on me. I was, and I remain, eternally grateful for the opportunity to attend and graduate in the Trinity Class of 1979. My Duke degree and our Blue Devil family have opened more doors than I could have imagined and stood in support when I needed it the most.

Graduates, today, we still find ourselves in the same morass of exclusion and intolerance I experienced all those years ago. The high degree of acrimony is unyielding and discouraging, but I want to make sure you hear this: Discouragement doesn’t have to be debilitating. If anything, discouragement should drive you to open your own doors and design your own future.

And just remember when you open those doors, there will be people on the other side. Some of them will be cheerleaders, and some of them will be critics. The challenges you face on your uphill climb will often come with an audience, because the reality is this: Adversity doesn’t happen always in private.

I know this all too well.

Ladies and gentlemen:

Good evening ,I am joy and glad to give you a speech about stress , yes , just the topic you see on the screen.

Psychologist tell us that stress is a state of worry caused by the problem of living , such as too much work or study , heavy responsibilities , and quickened pace of life istics show that stress comes from every detail in our life ncial problems , poor health , being laid off may be the stress that most adults now suffering students in the university , we are also under our special stress .

While study , having to take various tests and submit a project against a deadline may put a great pressure on us the things make us felt stressed may be our parents’s greater expectations on us than we could reach r , when we are likely to graduate , some other problems will also annoy us .

I think we will worry a lot about our ability to compete in the job market and how we can best use what we’ve learned at college in our future job chief problem we should face to is our atitude towards stress le usually say they can not live in the sun except they escape from stress ’s unwelcome ! yes , however , very necessary image a world where stress does not exist and people lead their life in a very comfortable way is this kind of living condition as perfect as we hope ?

without stress , they may feel very satisfied with the current life but lack of power to discover new things much satisfaction result in nothing except a countermarch of the society stress , no development a certain amount of stress is good .

It can stimulate us and increase our level of alertness our answer to stress is another vital problem to do with ourselves when stress suddenly break into our life ? to wave the white flag and admit our unability , to give up to our ideality , or worstly , just to suicide as to put an end to everything …

of cause not principle is to tackle with stress gentlely and should try our best to release ourselves .

Such as to do some exercise , to linsen to traditional chinese music or classical music to ease our minds and to learn to view these changes of life as challenges ’s no use crying over spilt milk to accept what has happened can solve the problem .

Ok , i think i was under large stress 3 minutes before , but now i am here and have finished my speech .

1、the thirsty pigeon

a pigeon, oppressed by excessive thirst, saw a goblet of water painted on a signboard. not supposing it to be only a picture, she flew towards it with a loud whir and unwittingly dashed against the signboard, jarring herself terribly. having broken her wings by the blow, she fell to the ground, and was caught by one of the bystanders.

zeal should not outrun discretion.

2、the wind and the sun

one day the wind said to the sun, “look at that man walking along the road. i can get his cloak off more quickly than you can.”

“we will see about that,” said the sun. “i will let you try first.”

so the wind tried to make the man take off his cloak. he blew and blew, but the man only pulled his cloak more closely around himself.

“i give up,” said the wind at last. “i cannot get his cloak off.” then the sun tried. he shone as hard as he could. the man soon became hot and took off his cloak.

"she is the one who sells the candy."

People often wonder why historians go to so much trouble to preservemillions of books, documents and records。

Why do we have libraries? What good are these documents and history books? Why do we record and save the actions of men,the negotiations1 of governmentofficials and the events during wars?

We do it because, sometimes, the voice of experience can cause us to stop, look and listen。 Sometimes, past records, when understood in the right way, canhelp us decide what to do and what not to do。 If we are ever to create lastingpeace,we must seek its origins in human experience and in the records of humanhistory。

From the stories of courage and devotion of men and women,we create theinspirations of youth。 History records the suffering, the self—denial2,thedevotion,and the heroic deeds of people in the past。 These records can help uswhen we are confused and when we really need peace。

The main purpose of history is to create a better world。 History gives awarning to those who promote war,and inspiration to those who seek peace。

In short, history helps us learn。 Yesterday’s records can keep us fromrepeating yesterday’s mistakes。 And from the pieces of mosaic4 assembled5 byhistorians come the great murals6 which represent the progress of mankind。

A man had a little daughter—an only and much—loved child。 He lived for her—she was his life。 So when she became ill, he became like a man possessed, moving heaven and earth to bring about her restoration to health。

His best efforts, however, proved unavailing and the child died。 The father became a bitter recluse, shutting himself away from his many friends and refusing every activity that might restore his poise and bring him back to his normal self。 But one night he had a dream。

He was in heaven, witnessing a grand pageant of all the little child angels。 They were marching in a line passing by the Great White Throne。 Every white—robed angelic child carried a candle。 He noticed that one child‘s candle was not lighted。 Then he saw that the child with the dark candle was his own little girl。 Rushing to her, he seized her in his arms, caressed her tenderly, and then asked, “How is it, darling, that your candle alone is unlighted?” “Daddy, they often relight it, but your tears always put it out。”

Just then he awoke from his dream。 The lesson was crystal clear, and its effects were immediate。 From that hour on he was not a recluse, but mingled freely and cheerfully with his former friends and associates。 No longer would his darling‘s candle be extinguished by his useless tears。

The distinguished school principals, teachers, dear classmates:

How do you do! I am in class five < 6 > huang, the title of my speech today is "the book is the key that opens the door to knowledge".

Shakespeare once said, "life without books, like the earth without sunlight; wisdom without books, is just like a bird without wings." Influenced by mom and dad, since I was young, I had got into the habit of reading newspaper. I first thing in the end of each day, be quickly picked up the newspaper that day.

On one occasion, I read a book with cyber language, and then take the book ran in front of the father said: "dad, I don't want to be a genius." Father strangely ask me why? I opened the book, pointing to the above explanation to dad: genius - born fool. Dad find xinhua dictionary from the shelf, let me check on the dictionary explanation. On the dictionary explanation is: genius is suffering ingenuity. Dad said to me: "if you study hard, learn useful knowledge from the book, dad believe you will be a very talented person. Otherwise, you really could become the so-called 'genius'!"

I love reading, every time I took a new book, feel there is a vivid, talking wonderful thing came into my life. In his book, captain nemo and I drove "nautilus" changyou seabed two miles; And Dr Alex in a balloon adventure across Africa, through the balloon five weeks; Gentleman with falk, through hardships, eighty days to travel around the earth. I have tears for the little match girl, cheer for the ugly duckling into a white swan.

The classmates! Do you know why the sun every day east west fall? Why is the sky blue? Why summer cicadas sing? Quickly open the book, the answer is inside!

Because we can find everything we need from everywhere on th some of us who study the earth are very surprised that th earth is going to die much sooner than means th earth will be like the Mars in a few then most animals will be exterminated ,and the organism called human may not be seen on the earth any that a lie or a joke?

No,it's serious and true .A river can be polluted by only a little trash and so little trash can be made by hundreds of families a year. But no country even America can clean the rivers as soon as we pollute 'm afriad we do something wrong over and over again. So we have less and less time to redress the balance of , it's not too late now. People have many things to do to stop the disaster. For example having a low-carbon lifestyle is one of the best ideas.

More and more young people like to live a low-carbon life. So you see ,life with low-carbon can be fact when we protect the earth , we are protecting for listening to me.

Good evening, everyone. My name is WangHaili. I am an outgoing girl who likesreading and traveling. It’s really my great honor to stand here and giveeveryone a short speech.

People say, youth is fire which is ignited by passion. People say, youth is achapter of the poem which is written by stories. The color of youth is brightand we make most use of our ardor to draw the scenes to the canvas of painting. But we may be confused and lose our direction in the youth time. Under this, youth slips away. Roman Roland says, life doesn’t issue return ticket and cannever come back once sets out. So we should seize the short youth time and tryour best to pursue our ideal. Do what should we do and let our youth withoutregret.

When we refer to ideal, we will realize the importance of ideal. Ideal is thebeacon,. Without ideal, we will lose the firm direction. Without direction, wewill lose our life. According to this, every one of us should establish our ownideal .so that we have the direction of straggle to the future. Tolstoy tellsus, we should have the life objective from the whole life to the second. So weshould cherish every moment and form our systematic objective. Youth is theprime time. We have strong body and energy and can sense the meaning of lifeunder the guide of ideal.

As we know, the ideal is plentiful and reality is skinny. But we shouldbelieve that we will become stronger and stronger in the way to pursue ideal.Future is unknown,. If we hope our future is nice, we should enrich our youthtime and find the direction of future.

Let us use our youth to pursue our ideal and make our future wonderful. So wewill have gorgeous life.
